In recent years, AMD has become a company that can confidently compete with Nvidia when it comes to graphics cards. According to the latest declarations of the company, they plan to win one more competition – the availability of their products.
Anyone who has recently tried to buy a graphics card knows that it is almost a miracle. Well, unless we are able to pay much more than its official price. The situation on the market is so bad that it has often turned out that the only reliable source of components is ready-made computers assembled by professionals.
Of course, the COVID-19 pandemic is responsible for everything. Not only has it drastically increased the demand for all consumer electronics, it has seriously violated the supply chain system. Most manufacturers used the JiT (Just in Time) model assuming that inventory levels should be kept to an absolute minimum.
As you can easily guess, when the first travel and transport restrictions came into force, and some factories had to close, the producers immediately ran out of parts. Unfortunately, this situation continues to this day.
AMD has announced, however, that they will start a real fight with the shortage of their graphics cards. So the company announced that they would raise production to the maximum achievable level.
Unfortunately, you have to disappoint a bit those who hunt for the coveted Radeon RX card. Increasing the aforementioned production capacity will not be too great. Even AMD’s best efforts will not overcome the fact that their main subcontractor, TSMC, has long barely coped with existing orders.
AMD CEO Lisa Sun is hopeful though:
We are in a very good position when it comes to the demand for our products. We also work closely with all our delivery partners. Thanks to this, the vision of additional semiconductor deliveries this year is very real for us – she said in a recent interview.
Of course, only time will tell if it is really possible. But let’s keep our fingers crossed for AMD, the Radeon RX 6000 series of graphics cards is a sensational choice for all players and not only, its better availability would be great news for consumers.
