The new AMD XT line CPUs were broadly discussed among hardware testers and enthusiasts. Most of them focus on the negligible performance increase, compared to the previous models, with a simultaneous major increase of prices.
For example, you have to pay PLN 500 more for AMD Ryzen 7 3800XT than for AMD Ryzen 3800X, a practically identical model. What is worse, AMD Ryzen 7 3700X is still approx. PLN 200 cheaper than AMD Ryzen 5 3600XT, and can therefore compete in terms of price with the 6-core AMD Ryzen 5 3600XT.
Hence, we can easily claim that the launch of the new CPU line generated some internal competition in the AMD product group because boosting up performance of just a single core was not enough to attack Intel’s position in this area.
We should also note here that a game worth PLN 200 will be added to each AMD Ryzen 7 and 9 line CPU (not just the XT variants).
Test of AMD Ryzen 7 3800XT

A lot of concerns from other reviewers are confirmed, and the minor difference in performance is subdued by a major difference in pricing. Had AMD’s 1-year-old CPUs with Zen 2 on board not been offered with such a huge discount, all the issues associated with this launch would have dispersed.
However, the market reality is that the Zen 2 prices keep decreasing, while the supply of CPUs is not a problem, perhaps except the AMD Ryzen 3 3100 and 3300X, awaited by many.
Hence, the XT line will not be perceived as a profitable purchase by many buyers. Allocating this amount of PLN 400-500 to a graphics card or higher frequency RAM instead of the CPU will generate a stronger performance boost for games and utilities alike.
Summing up, the AMD Ryzen 3000XT line will probably not advance the sales too much, yet its market presence should not be an interruption for anyone.
If you are really keen on breaking HWBOT records, you could use this type of CPU, as it offers a much higher chance of better quality silicone. After all, frequency boost is the effect of better yield and process, produced for AMD for more than a year now.
