The RTX 2060 and 2060 SUPER are back on sale

Warsaw, January 21, 2021 – Hard times on the graphic cards market bring back the chip from January 2019 in the face of the launch of the RTX 3060.

Reporting on the portal, NVIDIA plans to release the RTX 2060 series chips to the market. Apparently, silicon has already found its way to partners responsible for the creation of graphic cards, such as MSI or Gigabyte.

As of today, we do not know the scale of these deliveries, so it is hard to say whether this will be the target rescue for the medium segment, or it will end only with a few short-term throws that will be removed from the leftovers of NVIDIA’s warehouse.

However, it can already be predicted that the premiere of the RTX 3060 will not be sufficient in terms of availability, because the price of the RTX 2060 was set at EUR 300, and the RTX 2060 SUPER will cost as much as EUR 400.

This means that priced at EUR 339 and the much more efficient RTX 3060 would be off the shelves in a couple of shakes, which makes me wonder that this MSRP is unlikely to experience it. There is even no reference card in the plans that would have to keep this price at the premiere, which is also quite symptomatic with such shortages.

Is RTX 2060 a sensible graphics card in 2021?

The choice of a graphic card should first of all illustrate your needs and technical capabilities. The RTX 2060 is a great option for people who play in the 1080p resolution, because it allows to maintain very high graphic settings even in the latest games.

Unfortunately, ray-tracing is worse, because in the smallest Turing of RT cores there is a bit too little. It does not change the fact that any additional NVIDIA technologies, such as Broadcast or Reflex, will be available to you.

A minor disadvantage for some may be the poor amount of VRAM, because 6 GB can be found in the much weaker GTX 1660. Hence, the choice may fall for EUR 100 more expensive RTX 2060 SUPER, which already has 8 GB and is closer in power to the RTX 2070 than the 2060. Therefore, of these two RTXs, I would also reach for the SUPER version, because it is the closest to the so-called “sweet spot”, which includes the most forward-looking and efficient graphic at a decent price.
